The Mediterranean: Our Beloved Sea

To mark the completion of a decade since the establishment and operation of the Archaeological Museum of Nicopolis, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Preveza, in collaboration with the Municipality of Preveza, presents the temporary exhibition “The Mediterranean: Our Beloved Sea” by Italian artist Beppe Labianca.

The Mediterranean is renowned as a point of convergence for diverse peoples and cultures, where Eastern and Western civilizations intersected along its shores. This thematic richness served as the artist’s inspiration. The exhibition showcases original artworks crafted from delicate sheets of oxidized iron, rendered life-sized and painted upon. These pieces encapsulate various human and mythical figures, each brimming with intense emotion and symbolism.

Through his creations, the artist endeavors to portray both contemporary realities, such as the stark challenges of refugee migration, and allegorical elements, including the transcendence of reality through human forms, metaphysical compositions, and mythical creatures.

The exhibition unfolds seamlessly, commencing in the reception area and extending throughout the museum’s exhibition spaces before culminating in the Versatile Hall.

It is open to the public daily from 09:00 to 16:30 and admission is free.
